GSTU is the largest and prestigious organization of Govt. School Teachers in Kerala. It is the organization of Primary Teachers, Highschool Teachers, Lang. Teachers,Highersecondary School Teachers,Vocational Highersecondary School Teachers,TTI Teachers,DIET Lecturers,AEOs,HMs and Principals of Highersecondary Schools,DIETs and DEOs.
Shri. A.K.Antony,the President of KPCC inaugurated the first session of GSTU on the 14th of August 1991 at Rajadhani Auditorium,Thiruvananthapuram. It is the amalgamation of three categorical teachers' organizations in Govt. sector, namely KGPTU, GGTO, SSBU. Its headquarters is at Thiruvananthapuram situated at Unni's Lane, Pulimoodu, Thiruvananthapuram-1 walking distance from Govt. Secretariat. GSTU is affiliated to All India Federation of Teachers' Organization (AIFTO) and Education International (EI).
